From September to May, Sunday mornings offer a wonderful opportunity for our children to delve into the discovery of humanity’s story with God. Children are included in adult worship until after the Time with Children (children’s sermon), and then to go to their Sunday School classes or monthly Christ’s Kids Club together. Classes last until 11:15 AM for children from three years old to eighth grade. Then they can go to our game room to play or leave with their parents.
With the gifts of our volunteer teachers, and a curriculum called Spark, we explore meaning and mystery in the Bible. We offer five traditional Sunday School classes for the following age groups:
- Preschool (Ages 3-4)
- Kindergarten -Grade 1( Ages 5-6)
- Grades 2 and 3 (Ages 7-8)
- Grades 4 and 5 (Ages 9-10)
- Grades 6- Grade 8 (Ages 11-13)
If you’re interested in registering for this meaningful experience that offers both children and adults to engage in their faith, please register for all Family Formation programs with this form.
CHRIST KID’S CLUB
On the first Sunday of the month, our children from Grades K-5 take a break from their usual Sunday School classes for a different kind of learning experience. They begin in the chapel to expand their knowledge of God with Anne Fuehrer, our Director of Children and Family Ministries. The children then move upstairs and rotate through activities relating to the topic presented in the chapel. Children maybe picked up in the 4th and 5th grade wing after worship.
Preschoolers are invited to continue classes with Ms. Carson Ford. The Nursery staff provides for infants and toddlers. Children in 6th-8th grade are welcome to participate in worship or assist with the large group activities.
BIBLE DISCOVERY WORKSHOP
A favorite spring tradition, this program is for 3rd and 4th graders. This workshop takes place during Lent. It consists of three afternoon classes with discussion, games, snacks and a special song. The children are engaged in the competition of the games and learn to navigate through the Bible at a rapid speed in order to be successful in the games. It is an opportunity that adds to the Sunday School experience so that our youth have a better understanding of the 66 books in the Old and New Testaments. Each year, the program concludes with a presentation of Bibles in Sunday worship and the congregational singing of The New Testament Books of the Bible song, led by our newest graduates.
CHILDREN’S CELEBRATION SUNDAY
We honor our children on CHILDREN’S CELEBRATION SUNDAY which usually takes place in May. On the Sunday of this special worship experience, our children lead us in worship, prayer and song as we celebrate their presence in our community.
GREETINGS FROM THE CHURCH NURSERY
The nursery is overseen by our Director of Children and Youth Ministries. Our little ones are cared for each week by Nursery Attendant Bridget Parker. The nursery is located upstairs next to the Community Room and comfortably situated near the Kindergarten and Pre-school classrooms.
