Absent: John Shoos, Cindy Maddox
Scott called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. John Howard offered the opening.
Minutes of the Council meeting of May 19 were approved. The Council welcomed new members and expressed gratitude for the service of departing members.
Team Visits: There have been no team visits since our last meeting.
Financial Report: Ron shared that there is nothing unusual in the numbers for the last month. Everything appears to be on target.
Mission Trip: Karen reported that everyone is signed up. Currently there are 20 volunteers. The dinner and auction on May 21 netted approximately $8,000, $2,000 of which is dedicated to the kids’ Florida trip and the remaining to the Mission Trip. Departure is Sunday, July 17. Everything is on track for the Mission Trip to Cherryfield.
Pastor’s Time Via Scott: Family Promise. It is hoped that 13 churches will sign up. There are currently 10. We have a draft copy of the covenant, but it is still in the formation/negotiation stage. One new development is that each church will be responsible for the families on Saturday and Sunday. This will create some staffing issues. It is hoped that some churches that can’t commit to the full week would be able to cover weekends. A center has still not been secured, nor have the two paid positions been funded.
New Business: Betsy went with Skyler to the dedication ceremony of the new building at Pilgrim Lodge. It is apparently a beautiful building, designed to fit with the other structures at PL. Betsy also reported on other improvements at PL, including accessibility improvements to the outdoor chapel.
Holly reported that Cape Family Fun Day will be held on June 18. Members of our church youth will again be staffing the climbing wall, funds raised to be used to further defray costs of the trip to Florida.
Pride Parade: Scheduled for Saturday, June 18. We will meet at Monument Square at approximately 11:30 a.m. All are encouraged to attend and participate, especially in light of the recent shootings in Orlando.
Our next meeting is scheduled for August 25 at 7:00 p.m. Ron Bennett will be the recorder and open the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
